How to Calculate eDPI: The Universal Sensitivity Formula for FPS Games
Every tactical shooter and battle royale uses an arbitrary sensitivity scale. A sensitivity of 1.0 in CS2 is drastically different from 1.0 in Valorant. To standardize your aim across games, competitive players use eDPI (effective Dots Per Inch).
The Mathematical eDPI Formula
The formula is universally defined as:
eDPI = Hardware Mouse DPI × In-Game Sensitivity Multiplier
Example Calculation
If your mouse hardware is calibrated to 800 DPI and your in-game sensitivity in Counter-Strike 2 is 1.2:
eDPI = 800 × 1.2 = 960 eDPI
Converting Sensitivity Between Popular Games
To convert between engines, use these standard yaw conversion coefficients:
- Valorant to CS2 / Apex Legends: Multiply Valorant sensitivity by 3.181818
- CS2 / Apex Legends to Valorant: Divide CS2 sensitivity by 3.181818
- Overwatch 2 to CS2: Divide Overwatch 2 sensitivity by 3.333333
